Former Chancellor George Osborne today announced he would not be seeking re-election on June 8th. In a statement released to the press, Mr. Osborne had this to say:
‘Being an MP is a huge commitment, which unfortunately leaves me very little time to spend with my money’.
‘Having a career is great, but I don’t want to miss out on the truly important things in life. It’s about priorities, and I think it’s time to put my money first’.
This news was welcomed by former Prime minister Tony Blair, who stepped down in 2007 to spend more time with his property portfolio.
