After 25 years of service, Eric Pickles closes expense account

The MP for Brentwood and Ongar today announced that after a long and distinguished career, he would be closing his expense account on June 8th. Speaking at a press conference, Sir Eric had this to say:

‘After twenty-five years at the top, I think now is the time to go. I’d like to take this opportunity to remind the public off all the great things I’ve achieved’

‘The second home allowance’

‘The grocery bills’

‘The cleaning bills’

‘An eye-watering departmental biscuit bill’

‘It was hard work, but I believe this will leave a lasting political legacy’

‘I’d like to thank the Great British public for voting for me over and over and over and over and over again’
