Labour MP Chukka Umunna has criticised Theresa May’s EU negotiating strategy, especially her approach to the so-called ‘divorce bill’ which Mr. Umunna says ‘has to be settled’
The EU Council President Donald Tusk has demanded payment before negotiations can even begin, a position likely to be strongly opposed by ‘Leave’ voters.
Mr. Umunna appears to believe than an adversarial approach to Brexit talks has done more harm than good, citing the recent Gibraltar controversy as a prime example.
However, some will argue that a tough, maybe even aggressive approach, is the only way to secure a good deal for Britain.
