Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott faced heavy criticism today, for an interview on LBC Radio in which she appeared not to know the details of Labour’s new police policy.
The party has promised to hire an extra 10,000 police officers at a cost of £300 million, paid for by by reversing Conservative cuts to capital gains tax.
However, during the interview, Ms. Abbott struggled to get the basic figures right, at one point suggesting the cost would be £300,000, only to then say it would be £80 million.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn denied being emabarrassed by the interview, but critics will likely use this incident to suggest the party is incompetent and lacking credibility.
