A reporter for The Daily Telegraph yesterday locked himself in a cupboard to avoid hearing one of Theresa May’s campaign speeches.
The journalist was supposed to cover the Prime Minister’s visit to a factory in Cornwall, but the prospect of hearing more talk of a ‘strong and stable government’ proved to be so overwhelming, the man felt compelled to lock himself in a nearby airing cupboard.
His employers at the Telegraph issued the following statement:
‘We take the welfare of our writers very seriously. This poor man will be given several weeks paid leave, full counselling, and will be offered a much less stressful role in our organisation, namely chief Baghdad correspondent’
‘In time, we hope he will make a full recovery’
This news comes just days after a guardian journalist was sectioned under the Mental Health Act, after repeatedly hearing Jeremy Corbyn promise ‘social justice for the many, not just the few’.
