A controversial rule change means artists under the age of twelve are now eligible for the Turner Prize. This has sent shockwaves through the art establishment, and blows the competition wide open, with a generation of youngsters getting ready to give the old guard a run for their money.
Eight year old wunderkind Grayson Starling is now being tipped as a potential winner, his work having been described as ‘a bold and brave use of primary colours, with a haunting aesthetic that belies his tender age’.
Also hotly tipped is six year old colouring-in prodigy Wolfgang Wearing, who according to critics ‘never goes outside the lines’, and manages to be ‘precise in his work, but never soulless’.
The older generation are not going down without a fight however, with Tracy Emin’s new piece titled ‘spilled coffee on a white floor’, receiving rave reviews in all the major newspapers.
