Shadow chancellor John McDonnell has blamed ‘unbalanced’ media coverage for Labour’s underwhelming performance in yesterday’s local elections.
He suggested things would be different for the General Election, as TV broadcasters must give equal coverage to Jeremy Corbyn and Theresa May, which means ‘people can hear more about our policies, more about our candidates, and more about our leader’.
Mr. McDonnell went on to argue that the ‘unbalanced media reporting of the last two years’ had given voters ‘a distorted view’ of Jeremy Corbyn, and that more air time would help persuade people to vote Labour on June 8th.
