Former UKIP MP Douglas Carswell has blamed Nigel Farage for the party’s recent local election disaster. The MP for Clacton has suggested Mr. Farage’s ‘angry outbursts’ over immigrants had put voters off, and eventually led to people deserting the party in large numbers.
Carswell, who will not be seeking re-election on June 8th, also listed numerous incidents which he believes stopped the party making further progress. These include Mr. Farage’s comments about migrants with HIV, breastfeeding in public, and Romanians moving in next door.
These criticisms do not take into account the fact the Theresa May has turned the Conservatives into the party of Brexit, essentially stealing UKIP’s biggest policy.
