Speaking on ‘The Andrew Marr Show’ earlier today, John McDonnell promised to be the ‘first socialist Labour Chancellor’. Mr. McDonnell revealed plans to raise income tax for those earning over £80,000, but insisted that the increase would be ‘modest’, and that the money ‘will be going to our educational services, our caring services and our NHS’.
He also offered a ‘personal tax guarantee’, that means 95% of taxpayers will not have to pay more.
This news comes after the Liberal Democrats promised to raise income tax by 1p, also pledging to spend the money on the NHS.
