Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron has said that ‘immigration has been a blessing to this country, not a curse’.
During an interview with ITV, Mr. Farron also said there should be no upper limit to the number of people coming into the UK.
‘I don’t think you should set a figure and the reason why is, you then make it very hard for British business to do what’s good for British business’.
This stance is likely to be popular with many of the people who voted to remain in the EU, and such an unapologetic defence of immigration could set the party apart from Labour, potentially stealing some of their votes.
Conservative and UKIP supporters will probably not be impressed.
