Hopes of a progressive alliance fade

The chances of a Tory-stopping progressive alliance being formed now appear to be very slim, as Green Party co-leader Caroline Lucas has attacked Labour and the Lib Dems for refusing to tactically stand down in constituencies where the Conservatives may be beatable.

Ms. Lucas has accused her potential allies of ‘betraying’ voters, and ‘defying their own members on the ground’.

This news comes after former Lib Dem MP Vince Cable encouraged people in Ealing to vote tactically for Labour candidate Rupa Huq.

However, this does not appear to be the official party strategy, making the progressive alliance extremely unlikely.
