UKIP have decided not to field candidates in at least 29 marginal seats, many of which are held by Labour. Paul Nuttall wants to help pro-Brexit Tory MPs, and believes that stepping aside in these constituencies is ‘a very noble thing to do’, and puts ‘country above party’.
A similar approach has recently been discussed by Green party, who are hoping to form a ‘progressive alliance’ against the Conservatives, although a concrete strategy has yet to materialise.
UKIP won around four million votes in the last election, and if a significant majority of those people vote for Theresa May, a landslide victory on June 8th is possible.
