Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron has claimed that Leaving the EU will threaten the NHS, as the economic damage caused by leaving the single market would mean less money available for health spending.
In a speech to the Royal College of Nurses, Mr Farron said:
‘I think what threatens the National Health Service probably more than anything else when it comes to funding and the direction of travel for our country, is the Government’s choice of the most extreme version of Brexit’
Mr. Farron believes that leaving the EU will cause ‘a £59 billion black hole in our public spending’, but is offering voters ‘a lifeboat back into the single market’.
