Jeremy Corbyn has said that EU free movement will end after Brexit, but Labour will not be setting immigration targets, promising instead to take a ‘fair’ and ‘managed’ approach to the issue.
Mr. Corby criticised Theresa May’s pledge to bring net migration down to below 100,000 a year, saying:
‘This is now the third general election she has promised figures, none of which she’s come anywhere near achieving’.
‘I am not going to put any figures on it’.
The Labour Party also wants to keep access to the single market, but this is incompatible with the EU’s current position, which states that in order to be part of the market, guaranteed free movement is required.
