Arsenal fans celebrate loss of Champions League football

Arsenal fans have reacted with unrestrained joy after missing out on Champions League football for the first time in twenty years. An open top bus parade is scheduled to take place this week, after their triumphant fifth place finish means the prospect of yet another thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich has been avoided for at least a season.

A delighted Arsene Wenger had a message for supporters:

‘We finally did it! No more trips to Germany to lose 4-1. Now we can go to Kazakhstan instead and challenge for the prestigious Europa League title. I’ve heard the food is great. Maybe we’ll even make the quarter finals’.

Arsenal fans were quick to express their gratitude on social media, and are now looking forward to a summer of transfer market inactivity, followed by some last minute panic buys that will inevitably spend half of next season on the injury list.
