Research by the Opinium polling company has revealed 52% of the voting public do not know who the leader of the Liberal Democrats is.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn does better – only 12% of the public cannot identify him.
Nearly one in five people do not know that Theresa May is leader of the Conservative Party.
With non-stop media coverage of the upcoming election, these results suggest a high level of apathy among voters. It is also possible however, that our current political figures are simply not memorable and charismatic enough to enter the public’s consciousness.
Either way, if this poll is accurate, the numbers are not good.
