[100 word news] – Grenfell disaster ‘an indictment of the cuts to basic services’, says Jeremy Corbyn

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has criticised Theresa May’s response to the Grenfell tragedy, saying: ‘She has failed in any way adequately to respond to the terrible Grenfell Tower Fire in London’.

‘That disaster is an indictment of the cuts to basic services, and the growing poverty and inequality that has been the hallmark of seven years of Tory rule’.

‘That is why so many millions voted for change this month – and for a different approach that puts the interests of the many first, not those of the few’.

Mrs. May yesterday invited Grenfell residents to Downing Street, and admitted that immediate support for the victims ‘was not good enough’.
