[100 word news] – ‘Respect for each other, and a common sense of humanity, ultimately surpasses everything else’, says Tony Blair

In a video tribute to murdered MP Jo Cox, Tony Blair said that ‘it shouldn’t take the murder of Jo, or the terrible events of the past few weeks, to remind us that ordinary people can do extraordinary acts of courage, kindness and generosity towards strangers and friends alike, or that respect for each other, and a common sense of humanity, ultimately surpasses everything else’.

Former Prime Ministers John Major, David Cameron and Gordon Brown also appeared in the video.

Mr. Major called Britain a ‘generous nation’, Mr Brown said that ‘what we have in common is indestructible’, and Mr. Cameron echoed Jo Cox’s belief that ‘we have more in common than that which divides us’.
