Former Deputy PM Nick Clegg has attacked the government’s approach to Brexit, saying:
‘The truth is time is now running out. We have a government without a majority and without a strategy’.
‘I think we need to be candid with each other. I have to say I think Michael Gove, Boris Johnson and David Davis deserve Baftas and Oscars galore for all of their bravura about how well it’s going, but zero points for their lack of realism’.
‘Each passing day the boot is firmly on the feet of the EU, and I think we need to realise that in order to salvage something from this, we need to put the economy first, and really try and remain participants of the single market and the customs union’.
