Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell has called on the Conservatives to step aside and let the Labour Party negotiate the terms of Brexit.
‘This Government cannot agree amongst themselves. They are handling negotiations badly. They’re falling out amongst themselves’.
‘This seems to be more about the Conservative leadership election than the future of the country’.
‘It is better for them to move out the way, and let Labour take control and have these negotiations, and do it on the basis we have always argued, which is working with our European partners on the basis of mutual interest and mutual respect’.
This Government cannot negotiate a successful Brexit, we’ve seen that. They’re too divided, and in addition today they’re so inconsistent as well’.
