[100 word news] – Nick Clegg on Corbyn voters: ‘Many think he’s the new messiah’

Former Deputy PM Nick Clegg has criticised Jeremy Corbyn and the recent Labour manifesto, saying:

‘I think Jeremy Corbyn’s manifesto is one of the most cynical manifestos, but he has become a rallying point for many, many young people’.

‘It’s very ironic that lots of young people have rallied to Corbyn’s standard, even though his manifesto is almost indistinguishable from Theresa May’s when it comes to Brexit. Many young voters clearly think that he’s the new messiah’.

Mr. Clegg went on to say that he hoped the higher turnout of young voters would ‘provide balance to this terrible incentive that all politicians of all parties should appeal to older voters at the cost of young people’.

  1. Jealousy is a pityful thing. You have failed and only in one way as far as I am concerned. You let the Tories take the one thing that so many of us voted Libdem for, You betrayed the students and gave up on their student fees. You had the young. You brought up their interest and then you shat on them from a great height. I believed in you until then. So do not dare to try to pull Jeremy Corbyn down he does not lie to suit his own purpose as you did. As far as Iam concerned you shot yourself in the foot and sadly I voted for you, admired and trusted you but no more. So no more from you about Jeremy Corbyn’s manifesto.

  2. If Nick Clegg and his Libs had NOT sold their souls to the highest bidders, they would have gained respect and stood for good, as it is he has lost his seat. like he said ” if you live by the sword…….

  3. Not the Messiah, but a man with conviction and integrity. His beliefs stayed the same through out the years and he has not been swayed by pressure from other politicians or the media, which can not be said for you Nick Clegg. Don’t forget your u turn on student fees. You crumbled under Tories pressure. Not Jeremy Corbyn. The youth see that.

  4. Corbyn a friend of terrorists that murder Jews.
A traitor to the British people and everything the patriots stand for.
An anti semite that will only accept those Jews that reject the nation of Israel.
A man who would hand over Britain to be islamised and have no problem with it.
A millionaire that that tells poor people that OTHER rich people are the reason they are poor.
one word sums that man up HYPOCRITE. He is another Hitler in disguise and I detest everything he stands for.

    1. Janet you are either incredibly misinformed or just plain stupid! Jeremy Corbyn is a peace maker! first & foremost! the fact that he comes from a comfortable background ..yet still.. fights for the poor is commendable! he is happy to pay more taxes! if you want to see a modern day Hitler, look no further than our PM & Trump!

    2. Not a friend of terrorists, just somebody who believes you only achieve peace by talking to the other side, not bombing the shit out of them.
Not a traitor to the British people, but a man of honesty and integrity.
Not an anti-Semite, just not afraid to criticise Israel’s foreign policy, as many Jews also do.
Not a man who would ‘hand over Britain to be Islamised’ – what nonsense! Have you been reading Breitbart News?
Not a millionaire (although he is not poor), just a man who understands how the super-rich have got richer in this country, while ordinary people have got poorer, and wants to redress that balance.
Not a hypocrite, as he has the same principles as he has always had, and which won him the Gandhi Foundation International Peace Prize in 2013, an honour which would not be given to a hypocrite.
By all means detest everything he stands for – that is your right – but most sensible people recognise that he is a good man and just about as far away from Hitler as it would be possible to get.

    3. You forgot to state your vested interests. Do you support the wanton killing of Palestinians on behalf of the Jewish State and building housing estates for Jews only land which they do not own?

  5. Says Judas Clegg who betrayed his own voters and sold his own party out to the Satanic Tories! Not that your still an MP anymore😂 Now pack your bags and do one twinkle toes!

We don’t think he’s the messiah, but we do know he’s a genuine caring down to earth human being, who knows how to care about ordinary people. Something which you Neo-Liberal Elite Con-Mercants have no intention of being, other than warmongering, self serving, greedy, lying little sleaze bags.

  7. Nick Clegg these young voters want a future with Jeremy Corbyn at last we have a man with the peoples voice not a blank horizon which is what Theresa May and you would provide for the next generation with more cuts from Theresa May and false promises from you like when you were in coalition with the Tories and that didn’t last long did it so do not criticize someone who has been for the people over 30 years because you certainly were not.

  8. Clegg participates in the years of deep austerity wrought by his Coalition government. He has as much blood on his hands as Cameron,Osborne & May.An apology would be welcome followed by a long silence.

  9. Nick Clegg I have admired you and your attempts to have another referendum. People are sick of poverty, foodbanks, cuts in social services and social security. When you joined the conservatives to form a coalition I expected a steadying hand, a sympathetic voice for the plight people find themselves in. You went along with austerity ,which has seen this country at its lowest ebb. My daughter joined the Lib Dems in the hope of reversing Brexit. She expected a voice, but she did not get it. You should have railed against poverty, railed against the deths of unborn babies in hospitals that stank from the head down.
Instead of promising outcomes you could not obtain you should have railed against Tim Farron saying we are all sinners.
If he referred to original sin then he was out of tune with the way most people think. I do not believe the sins of the fathers are visited on the third and fourth generation.
Your campaign was abysmal and inspired few.Jeremy Corbyn is not a messiah”He’s a very naughty boy’ I really had faith in you once.
Please, please be the man you need to be.

  10. Former Deputy PM Nick Clegg publicly admits that he cannot match Jeremy Corbyn at this present time. Clegg failed to understand that there is something extra to the recent Labour manifesto that is enabling Jeremy Corbyn to become a rallying point for many, many young people, and that is a heart of flesh that Clegg and Teresa May do not have. That is what millions of young people across Britain have come to understand and realise to date. Thus, Clegg should be humble enough to concede the fact. It is Jeremy Corbyn’s time to be the UK Prime Minister under God; if not, Nick Clegg has to create his own world without us, young people.

  11. Come on, I’m not a young voter but it doesn’t take genius to see the attraction. In fact I had a very heated discussion the day he was first elected party leader, summarized as, him: Corbyn’s a dinosaur, there is no place for his politics anymore. Me: after generations of right wing miss-rule and neglect the youth will flock to him. There were raised voices, profanity’s and sociology references but at the end of the day it comes down to, this generation has a bit of a sh*tty deal and they want to believe someone believes in them.

    1. Do you watch or read anything??? Open your eyes. The man has integrity. How many others in the house of commons have that? He genuinely cares for the majority not the top 1-5% He has also shown how. The Tory’s have cut Corporation tax from 28& to 19% which is the cheapest in Europe. He is going to put it back up to 26% (still 2% lower than 2010) Which will still be the lowest of the G7!! …but will raise £46bn which will pay the student loans etc My last bit of advice is, unless you are rich… Don’t cut your own nose off to spite your face.

  13. Janet,;I’m unsure where you’ve gleaned your propoganda from. Jeremy Corbyn has spent his whole life fighting for peace. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, the Ghandi Award.
He is a man now great principle who fights for the good of the many, not the few.
The only terrorist I can see is Teresa May selling arms to the Saudis, who then supply ISIS.
Bombing Middle Eastern countries for their oil. Greed not need.
    Education,,education,,education. ..

  14. Didn’t Cleggy lose his seat? Time for him to put some wheels on a bathtub and shove off if he is going to talk such insulting nonsense. #MockeryFuckery
As for the above lies about Corbyn, they are obviously from someone who either doesn’t read past headlines or look for other reports that might refute what they have read. I will be doing so about this article on Clegg.

  15. The difference is that on leaving the EU a Labour Government will be able to re-nationalise industries which now make huge profits for countries other than our own and a Conservative Government wants to abolish our human rights.

  16. When I saw you and Cameron announcing the coalition on that green, I thought,”this will be a disaster”. All posh boys together. You will be eaten alive and you were. That should have been the greatest opportunity to bring some compassion and social justice to balance a vile Neo-liberal agenda. You failed and so did some many of your MP’s. Go and write another book or something but you are not made for politics or making a difference to the lives of the majority.
