[100 word news] – Dawkins on Brexit: ‘general public not qualified to take that decision’

Author Richard Dawkins has said that the issue of Brexit was such a complicated one, it should have been left for politicians to decide.

‘I think it was wrong of David Cameron to call a referendum on something as complicated as leaving the European Union’.

‘It’s the kind of thing where we need parliamentary democracy – which we have – and it was an entirely wrong decision to hand that matter over to a general public which was not qualified to take that decision, especially in the way it was presented’.

Mr. Dawkins went on to accuse David Cameron of ‘playing Russian roulette with the British future’, calling the decision to hold a referendum ‘an irresponsible gamble’.

  1. You insult our intelligence Richard, do you think that you are more qualified than the working class people who were the biggest percentage that voted for Brexit ? Or have you got vested interests in keeping in ? Or perhaps you are just plain old non-democratic you should be ashamed of yourself.
