[100 word news] – Fox on the BBC: ‘They would rather see Britain fail than see Brexit succeed’

International trade secretary Liam Fox has accused some sections of the media, in particular the BBC, of wanting Brexit to fail.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr. Fox said:

‘It does appear that some elements of our media would rather see Britain fail than see Brexit succeed. I cannot recall a single time in recent times when I have seen good economic news that the BBC didn’t describe as ‘despite Brexit’.

Labour MP Barry Sheerman responded to these comments, saying:

‘This frontbench team must know that this silly attack on the BBC cannot be used as an excuse for policy’.

  1. Mr Fox has been one of the most prominent “mad mullahs” of Brexit. Also one who found elasticity in English that others cannot see. To me, 48:52 is “narrow” or “marginal” but Fox and co immediately commandeered “clear and decisive”. Most recently, I’ve heard “overwhelming” used. Whatever the language used, there are many unanswered questions and recourse to slogans such as “take back control” doesn’t answer them.
