Michael Heseltine has said that the result of the general election means Theresa May will be unable to stop the cabinet leaks because ‘she has no authority’.
‘She can’t sack leading Brexiteers because she has no authority, so you have an enfeebled Government’.
‘I think it’s very distressing. I think that the chances are, there will be a general election in two years and I don’t see any sign of the Conservative Party focusing on how it wins that election’.
‘This is a deeply divided Government’.
Lord Heseltine also called for a different approach to leaving the EU, saying that Theresa May’s ‘Brexit means Brexit’ strategy ‘is not going to win us the next election’.
