Gary Lineker has responded to the list of the BBC’s highest paid presenters, saying:
‘Happy BBC salary day. I blame my agent and the other TV channels that pay more. Now where did I put my tin helmet?’
‘This whole BBC salary exposure business is an absolute outrage…I mean how can Chris Evans be on more than me?’
Other notable high earners include:
Chris Evans on £2.2 million
Jeremy Vine on £750,000
Huw Edwards on £600,000
Alan Shearer on £450,000
BBC Director General Lord Hall defended these figures, saying:
‘I completely understand that to lots and lots of people these are very large sums, but we are a global broadcaster in a very competitive market’.
