‘Rees-Mogg? Even Tories can see he’s a joke, can’t they?’, says Dennis Skinner

Dennis Skinner has criticised Jacob Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson, calling them ‘comedy people’.

‘I’ve never done any cross-party stuff. I’ve no interest in sitting down discussing pensions or whatever with Tories’.

‘I can’t see it. Take education. Free schools? You want me to sit and talk with them about that? I can’t even contemplate it. And I can’t think of any area of policy where you would’.

‘Rees-Mogg? Even Tories can see he’s a joke, can’t they? Boris Johnson the same. These are just comedy people’.

‘Some MPs go on these ‘fact-finding’ trips with each other’.

‘I wouldn’t go to the theatre with a Tory’.

  1. well that is only his opinion there are millions that would disagree.i would say both jrm and bj are by far better educated and intelligent .just because they have a sense of humour does not make them a bad politician. did some one ask his opinion i doubt it just another one of his out burst. far too many people in politics these days with a attitude problem .

  2. Denis is one of labours “thickies” who hasn’t achieved much in politics – think he has always been a back bencher. However I respect him to a point, as, I believe he lives his life according to his views. Saying that he has a very well paid job and pension, for doing very little – apart from some quip when our Queen opens parliament. Time for him to retire, as he must be around 80 years old.

  3. Dennis, I have always had a lot of time for you over the years and there has been lots of them, but my friend, what a situation you are in when you would not go out with a Tory, we all have our own ideas of how the country should be run, you might not agree with everyone, but you should respect them.
You are beginning to sound bitter and twisted, maybe it’s time you retired and let the younger generation in parliament get on with running the country, I retired two years ago, and life is still great ,just sit back and enjoy it.

  4. I feel somewhat the same as Dennis. He is a man of integrity and conscience, he has empathy for his fellow man. Education without conscience, empathy or integrity will only ever create arrogance, self aggrandisement and greed. Johnson, and Rees Mogg are two classic Tories, who are so entrenched in their own self worth that they just cannot see the suffering that is happening all around them, either that, or they just dont care. Give me somebody like Denis skinner every time. Even the thought of being in the same room as your average Tory minister makes want to dry heave and take a long very hot shower

  5. Johnson’s lamentable performance as foreign secretary provides all the evidence that is needed to support Denis Skinner’s claim that he is nothing more than a buffoon
