Jacob Rees-Mogg has responded to Philip Hammond’s plan for a Brexit ‘implementation phase’ which may last until 2022, saying:
‘Actually I think the implementation period is now. People should be getting ready now, government departments should be getting ready now’.
‘They know what’s going to happen, they know we’re leaving’.
Mr. Rees-Mogg also said that Britian should take full control of its institutions immediately after leaving, especially regarding the justice system.
‘The European Court of justice cannot be our senior court for a day after we’ve left the European Union’.
‘It is about control. Do we make our laws according to our own democratic principles on the day we’ve left or not?’
‘If we don’t, we’re still in the European Union and that is the essence of this whole debate’.
