‘The metropolitan elite are rejecting the result of the referendum’, says Rees-Mogg

Jacob Rees-Mogg has said that the proposed Brexit transitional deal was an example of  ‘the metropolitan elite rejecting the result of the referendum’.

The conservative MP singled out shadow Brexit Secretary Sir Keir Starmer, who supports the deal, saying: ‘He’s betraying the voters – but also his leader, Jeremy Corbyn, who says we will have to leave the single market’.

‘It’s double infamy’.

These comments were echoed by Dover MP Charlie Elphicke, who said:

‘There is a clear instruction from the British people to end uncontrolled EU immigration and that means leaving the single market in March 2019’.

‘It would be wrong for the Labour party to seek to undermine the referendum decision or seek to kick it into the long grass’.

  1. The referendum was undemocratic. Large numbers of people were arbitrarily excluded. Many British citizens living overseas were excluded from voting, no reason given. Enough to change the result. Damn right we’re ignoring it.

  2. Who is Jakob Rees Mogg trying to kid?

He is part of the Westminster elite – and just because there are murmurs of a second referendum via a democratic process he is tossing his Brexit teddy out of his 4×4 pram and expecting his nanny and footman to help him achieve his extremist utopia of a fully broken Britain (and pick his teddy up).

  3. Why do most Brexit supporters: Rees-Mogg, Johnson, Gove, Murdoch et al, already look and sound like “Spitting Image” puppets; even before they are made of latex?
