Former Chancellor George Osborne has said that ‘Britain is not ready to crash out of the European Union in the spring of 2019’.
‘We don’t have the customs controls, the farm payment systems, the business arrangements that will allow that to happen, so we need to work with our European allies on that transition’.
Mr. Osborne also argued that Brexit was already making Britain poorer, saying:
‘We’ve gone from being the fastest growing of the G7 to one of the slowest growing’.
‘The country is poorer, and you will know this because those of you who have been on holiday will know that when you go to the money changers, you get roughly a pound for a euro’.
‘That’s the way the global investment community has seen Brexit’.
